NASHVILLE – Stars of TV and music will shine on “The 40th Annual CMA Awards” when the three-hour gala airs live on the ABC Television Network, Monday, Nov. 6 (8:00-11:00 PM/ET) from the Gaylord Entertainment Center in Nashville.

Vince Gill is still the most talented performer in genre

SPECIAL to the STAR-TELEGRAM
DALLAS -- Vince Gill just called, and he wants his country music crown back.
The platinum-selling country star who has seen his raging popularity flag just slightly in recent years delivered a concert at the Meyerson Symphony Center on Monday night that served notice that his is not a talent that can be dormant or ignored for long.

Vince Gill's four-album set of 43 -- yes, 43! -- new songs either represents the last mighty gasp of the CD era or points toward a future when an artist's output isn't limited by how much music can fit on one or two discs.

Vince Gill is living large with a new four-disc set that for once is all about the music, not the marketing.
Jon Bream, Star Tribune
Now that he's no longer a major player on country radio, Vince Gill has decided to super-size himself.
No, he's not pigging out at the dinner table. (He's actually lost about 30 pounds.) He just released a whopping four-CD boxed set, "These Days," with 43 new songs by Gill -- something no artist on a major label has ever done.

Without an opening band, Vince Gill casually walked out onstage, said hello and began to play Wednesday night to an enthusiastic crowd at the Morris Performing Arts Center.

Vince Gill is receiving some of the strongest accolades of his already-celebrated career with These Days, his new four-CD boxed set.

People Magazine
A four-disc set of new material would surely amount to an exercise in excess for most any performer, but Vince Gill boasts the artistry to match his audacious ambition on THESE DAYS. Writing or cowriting all 43 songs, Gill displays remarkable versatility, stretching out from country and bluegrass to rock, pop, jazz and gospel. Along the way he gets help from an all-star array of guests, including Sheryl Crow, Diana Krall, Bonnie Raitt and Gretchen Wilson, not to mention wife Amy Grant. But Gill--who gets to show off his underrated guitar playing as well as his strikingly clear and true tenor--remains at the core of it all. Fully appreciating this work entails an investment of time, but you will be amply rewarded with days and days of listening pleasure. ****

Vince Gill isn’t ready to coast. Three decades into his career, he’s earned countless Country Music Association Awards and 14 Grammys — more than any other country music artist in history except Chet Atkins (who also earned 14).

Country music star Vince Gill and bluegrass powerhouse Alison Krauss have a history of making beautiful music together and that storied history continues in the second installment of CMT Cross Country. Longtime friends and colleagues, Gill and Krauss' past collaborations include the title track from his 1996 album, High Lonesome Sound, which won a Grammy for best country collaboration with vocals. Here, they take turns singing each other's songs during a concert filmed in Nashville. WATCH A SNEAK PEAK NOW!

Superstar Vince has released his most ambitious project yet—a four-CD box set titled These Days. The CD set, which features guest stars like Gretchen Wilson and Alison Krauss, has given Vince a renewed sense of purpose. “I believe in my heart that I’m not going to retire, or quit playing the Opry or on people’s records,” he says. “I don’t see any reason to start changing now.”

Strangely it took diminished demand for Vince Gill's music for him to be able to complete the most ambitious project of his career, or perhaps any career in country music.

There aren't many concerts that make one laugh and cry within a few minutes, but Vince Gill's performance at the Palace Theatre last night did just that.
After telling a funny anecdote about his late father teaching him to drive in Oklahoma, and topping it with another funny story about his father (then living in Columbus) meeting Dolly Parton, Gill, playing guitar solo on stage, choked up slightly at the end of The Key to Life. He received a standing ovation.

Vince Gill's last album, 2003's "Next Big Thing," was an epic by country-music standards, with 17 songs instead of the usual 10 or 11. It turns out he was barely warming up.
Gill's latest release, "These Days," has 43 new recordings spread over four CDs, each disc representing a different facet of his musical interests. None of that is a misprint.

NASHVILLE - October 23, 2006 -- Paris Hilton, eat your heart out. Compared to Vince Gill, you’re a recluse.
Interest is running so high in These Days, Vince’s new 4-CD album, that he’s starting to think the world is paved in red carpet.

Was it three years ago when Next Big Thing by Vince Gill was released? That was a killer record that should have been album of the year. One of the finest CDs ever and hardly anybody gave it the attention it deserved. I kept talking about the album and kept writing about it. With all the schlock that hits the airways, I still don't understand why that record did not happen big time. Just maybe the time for plumb perfect Vince is now!

VINCE GILL MIXES COUNTRY, BLUEGRASS, BLUES ON NEW CD
Vince Gill could make an entire -- and an entirely fabulous -- live show just by playing songs from the first CD of "These Days," the four-disc album he released Tuesday.
It might bum out some fans if he omitted his standards in concert, but he could do so: That's how great this new work from the country music legend is.

By Matthew Shaer, Globe Correspondent
WORCESTER -- Two days after the release of his four-disc album, "These Days," Vince Gill arrived at Mechanics Hall, already worn from a week on the road. He'd weathered a spate of sleepless nights, a visit with David Letterman in New York, and a trip to see Martha Stewart, who compared him, apparently, to a particularly tasty slice of meatloaf.

By Stuart Munro TELEGRAM & GAZETTE REVIEWER
WORCESTER— This past Tuesday, Vince Gill put out what is surely one of the most audacious record albums ever released by a country artist. The release, “These Days,” comprises four separate CDs, each built around a particular style of music. The set is an emphatic confirmation of what Gill has amply demonstrated in the past: he is a musician, and songwriter, of astonishing range and facility.

Day to Day, October 17, 2006 · Country music star Vince Gill has a new four-disc collection of new music. Each disc covers a different genre, spanning traditional country and bluegrass, "modern" country, rock and jazz. Music critic Christian Bordal has a review. LISTEN NOW!

At a time when a panicked music industry is shifting its focus toward single-sale downloads in the wake of declining album sales and listeners' dwindling attention spans, country stalwart Vince Gill has done the unthinkable. He's released a new album, "These Days," which spans four CDs and contains 43 songs of all-new material.

Multitalented artist explores various musical leanings on boxed set of 43 songs
By PETER COOPER
After 30 years of professional music-making, a slew of radio hits and recordings that run from bluegrass to pop to country, and a reputation as one of Nashville's most impressive and versatile singers and players, it's no surprise that Vince Gill's skills would be showcased on a multidisc boxed set.

When Vince Gill began work on These Days, he didn’t anticipate it would blossom into a four-disc set, comprising 43 new songs. At first, he simply hoped to explore different aspects of his musical persona—honky tonk, blues, roots rock, and, of course, the ballads that have earned him legions of female fans.

Gill's four-album set of 43 new songs is unprecedented — so much so that some will mistake it for a career compilation. It's not. "These Days" encompasses original, previously unreleased music, all of it written or co-written by Gill, and all of it recently recorded.

Vince Gill talks about broad tastes, bawdy lyrics and the importance of being nice
“Praise the Lord, praise the Lord!” Vince Gill declares, collapsing into the couch in mock exhaustion and relief. The reporter sitting across the coffee table at his Belle Meade home has just informed Gill that over the four CDs, 43 new songs and two hours and 45 minutes of music on his new album, These Days, there appears to be no filler. “I’ve gotta be honest,” he admits, turning his baseball cap to the back. “That’s my greatest fear with this whole thing.”

Vince Gill will be featured on SIRIUS Radio on Oct. 20, where he will debut These Days, which was released on Oct. 17. He will be on several SIRIUS Channels throughout the day discussing his four-disc release of all new and original material, and the list of artists who appear on the album set.

Vince Gill approached his record label last summer with 31 new songs and a wild idea.
Instead of releasing one album of new material, why not three albums staggered over a year?

Mild-Mannered Country Singer Breaks New Ground With A First-Rate, Four-Disc Studio Album
By THOMAS KINTNER, Special to the Courant
In his 2003 collection, "Next Big Thing," Vince Gill served notice that he still had plenty to offer country music listeners, and was comfortable with his place in the genre whether or not radio programmers continued to show interest in him. He makes an even more emphatic case for his continued vitality with the four full albums' worth of material that comprises "These Days," arriving in stores today.

In an unmatched outpouring of virtuosity and energy, Vince Gill has created a 4-CD set of 43 new and original songs under the title These Days. The collection is an artistic tour de force that displays Gill’s mastery of lyrics and musical styles, ranging from traditional country and bluegrass to jazz and rock.

Usually when an artist releases a multiple-CD collection, it is a boxed set of greatest hits with maybe a few previously unreleased tunes thrown in. In a possibly unprecedented move, Vince Gill`s new MCA project, 'These Days,' is a 43-song, four-CD set of new material that will hit the shelves Oct. 17.

Country singer Vince Gill goes out on a limb with his new release, "These Days," in stores now. It's a four-CD set.
That's right, four. But Gill insists the inspiration came from the classics. Classic rockers, that is.

Country star jazzes up his 43-song box set
By Sarah Rodman, Globe Staff
Vince Gill was tired, in his words, of being a ``hood ornament."
The 49-year-old country star had built a hugely successful career in Nashville by being both talented and accessible. But following the middling success of his 2003 album ``Next Big Thing" he grew tired of the machinations of stardom: shooting videos, signing autographs, worrying about radio hits, hosting awards shows, and generally serving as the happy face of the country-music industry.

MOST people know Vince Gill as a sweet-voiced singer of country ballads. Some might also know him for the high tenor harmonies he lends to the records of others, while others will recognize him as a perennial winner at the Grammy and Country Music Association Awards (and, from 1992 to 2004, as the affable host of the latter). Few beyond Music Row in Nashville, however, know Mr. Gill to be a serious guitarist, a pedigreed bluegrass musician, a prolific songwriter or a performer versed in blues, jazz and rock ’n’ roll.

By Brian Mansfield, Special for USA TODAY
Back during the '60s, pop and country acts thought nothing of releasing three or four albums each year.
These days, though, with singles taking longer to climb the charts and record labels pumping more money into marketing, top artists commonly wait two, even three years between releases.
This time, that just wasn't going to work for Vince Gill.

Vince Gill’s easygoing charm and likable nature may have backed him into a corner, or, more accurately, gotten him stuck behind a podium, as Gill has reigned as country music’s personable awards-show host.

Oct.13.2006 /netmusiccountdown.com/ -- Vince Gill says that Eric Clapton inspired a key element of Gill's These Day album project. In 2004, Clapton called to invite him to participate in Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival, a one-time gathering of master guitarists in Dallas.

Somewhere, Hyperprodigious Ryan Adams is whipping himself for being a laggard, because Gill beat him to doing a four-CD set of all new material. Wrectched excess? Not at all: These might be better thought of as four distinct, tight, hugely fun albums - in four fairly discrete styles - that Gill charitably bundles together.

Apparently Vince Gill didn't set out to cut and release four albums containing 43 original songs all at once, but as he and some indefatigable musician mates got it rolling in the studio, the songs started piling up. Cutting across genre lines from country to rock to pop to gospel, These Days is not only one of the most audacious projects in country music history but also one of the best -- any one of these albums on its own would be considered among the finest of the year.

NASHVILLE — The word "crazy" pops up often in conversation these days with country musician Vince Gill, and more often than not, the tongue it's rolling off of is his own. He knows that's the way much of the music world will perceive his release Tuesday of a four-CD album of all-new recordings — widely considered a first for a major pop-music recording artist.
